We started checking-in when Liam was about to go two sets down. After a busy couple hourts I got back onto the Wi-Fi and I was delighted, shocked and utterly elated to see that Liam had won! What fantastic grit and fibre to fight back from two down, having been written off by a few people on this very forum... What a win! Hoping I'll be able to catch some highlights at some point.
I am delighted - hopefully Laim will inspire our other lads to follow suit. I am CHUFFED TO BITS.
Great to see from Liam, and hopefully just the result that he needs to turn his year round.
I missed almost all of the first two sets when Matosevic apparently played better than he did later on when he often went so missing, rather strangely for such an experienced player, but evidently not so much for him.
And Liam hung in there and had the belief to be in position to take advantage of Matosevic's failings and indeed at times played very well - for instance I have never seen his backhand looking so good or consistently penetrating, even if his forehand looked a bit dodgy at times. Good draw as it was, Liam's head could have easily dropped after losing these two pretty tight sets, but he really kept with it.
For anyone who is interested, you can watch the full match by clicking on court 18 now and then selecting Broady v Matosevic at the bottom. Im sure the full video will be published somewhere but for the time being you can catch it today (skip the first two sets though, of course!)
Great result for Liam showing fantastic fight in his first men's Wimbledon however wouldn't get too excited about it as Matosevic was dreadful for the last 3 sets
Showed great courage to come back from 0-2 down in first 5 set match. When he won 3rd set looked like likely winner. Good to see him show some fight. No Liam Bogdanovic yet...
haha careful with that doesnt have the same ring to it and not s similar comparison. He's a long way off top 100 in ability and ranking just now but has more potential than James I believe and age on his side. He did have a bit of luck in an unfit opponent for a 5 set match just about anybody would have beaten Matosevic in the last two sets but you can only beat whats in front of you and he did that easily.

Odd.
a fair enough summation if you watched the match I feel.
The opponent doesn't matter it's the mental belief and confidence Liam can use from this. He's won a 5 setter came from 2 down, first Grand Slam match and win, big pay cheque and media exposure can only help him I feel.
Only saw the first couple of games and was then out, so really pleased to see that Liam came through - a huge "well done"!
Hoping my recording picked some of the match up!

It's not odd at all - Matosevic looked like a player who had not won a match for 4 months though Liam was that bit more solid and did play well at times. Don't think he would come back from 2 sets down against Goffin should it happen and certainly no justification to give him another wild card next year should he need one. Matosevic would have struggled to get through qualifying on the evidence of the last three sets.

Really? You can only play against those who are in front of you, after all. Matosevic and then Goffin (16) is a big step up and a R2 performance losing to Goffin isn't exactly a disgrace if that's what happens. I don't think it's fair for Liam to have a decent win today and be forced to think 'if only I'd been drawn against a good player and then beaten them'. Non-seeds are, after all, only meant to make R2, and Liam lived up to that no matter how. It wasn't exactly a retirement or withdrawal.

Some of these comments are madness. If a British player had lost from 2 sets up, Im sure the same people would be challenging their mental strength, fitness, work ethic etc. yet when a Brit wins from 2 sets down, its all because their opponent gave up and doesnt prove that they deserved their place in the draw?! The player who mentally stays in the match and keeps chasing the balls is the player who deserves to win, not Liams fault that that was him and his opponent faltered.
How many players would win from 2 sets down against the world number 16? Based on ranking, there are only 15 players who should be favourite to beat him full stop, so that comment is totally ridiculous.
There will only be 64 players left in the draw by the end of tomorrow, its a remarkable achievement that one of them is a WC ranked outside the top 150. This match, and Liam's resolve, should absolutely be celebrated; what do we follow British tennis for if not to see one of our own pull of a career or even life ambition of winning a match at Wimbledon? There are plenty who never will, that's for sure.
