RE: Week 25 - ATP 250 - Nottingham - Grass

Gutted for Liam and his recent run of poor form. I've no doubt that he can pick it up but I'm sure we'd all rather it be sooner than later.

I'm quite looking forward to seeing how the MD guys do. I do worry that Kyle is rushing this after his injury but I'm sure that he and his physio have a much greater idea than me!

Word on the grapevine was that he was touch and go for Queen's and possibly could have played but they decided not to risk it, the strength of the draw there might have influenced that decision.

Watched Liam's game v Rola, I'm afraid he was rather the architect of his own downfall in 1st set.

2 mini breaks ahead, serving at 5-2 up, he suddenly looked very tight and hit 3 unforced errors and a double fault (just about his only one of the match)

Having had 4 break points in first game of the match, I don't think he had another one the whole match, and whilst he hung in there on his own serve in 2nd set, he (unsurprisingly given his recent form) doesn't exude a lot of confidence, and it was no huge surprise when he was broken at 6-5 to lose the match, though he had saved other break points.

He was up against a decent player, but when you're in a rut, it is hard to get out. Hope he can do soon.

You might want to be careful who you say that to - some people don't buy into the notion that being 5-2 up on serve and losing the TB could be attributed to the player failing to serve it out from a winning position. Please refer to the forums guidelines on acknowledging all perceivable chokes as normal parts of tennis that are 'so very far from rare.' wink

 Bizarre.

Sadly Dan goes down 7-5 in third set to complete an awful grass court season qualifying for Brits. It was a tough ask to be fair.

so not to be lost 7-5 in the final set.

Missed out on the staggering 2 points extra he would have got for qualifying here (of course the money would have been nice) - having said that has he staked a bit of a claim here for a wimbledon QWC? I know he didn't peform well in the wc play-off but he has been injured for most of the past 12 months and he has shown here he can mix it with players around the top 100 on grass
