I've heard that Harriet is going to get reduced funding due to her poor performance at Wimbledon this year

Katie Dunne is also going to have to work a bit harder on her doubles skills. After making FQR last year, this year she will have trouble finding a partner.

Perhaps, to make sure that she's not getting any unfair home advantage, the LTA can enter her in the doubles qualifying draw on her own.

Players warming up. Hopefully one of them plays better when she's furious.

In other news, Kvitova has withdrawn, so lucky loser Gavrilova gets a second shot.

The combination of byes for the top seeds and lucky loser leads to  a pretty ridiculous situation where Gavrilova has a bye to the second round and Erakovic, who she lost to, has to play the first round.

Cibulkova doesn't exactly look rusty does she?

Harriet has broken back -1*-2

Tough on Harriet, but of she wins it wouldn't make any difference. We are all assuming she is going to lose.

But she's lost her first ever set of WTA main draw tennis, 1-6...

Making too many soft errors at the moment. Saved 3 bps then lost her serve with 2 awful backhand errors.

DC immediately hands the break back with 2 dfs. *2-2

DC far more aggressive, real purpose to each shot, earns another break 2-3*

A couple of super points from Harriet, including a sensational forehand down the line, earn her a bp, which DC gives away with a wild bh *3-3

Another break. HD's 2nd serve doesn't look competitive on the grass at this level, sits up waiting to be hit 3-4*

Every so often Harriet comes up with a good shot but mostly DC either winning or losing the points *3-5

Finishes 1-6 3-6

Very creditable effort in Harriet's first ever match with any of the top 100. Broke DC's serve 3 times; and DC was WR11 just before her injury time-out.

Lots to like about Harriet, lots of things she needs and can improve on.

Shame about Wimbledon but the prize money she's picked up is pretty chunky.

Heather v Lepchenko has started, with Hev broken first game. She's defending 180 points from last year, and is now down to 64 in the rankings...

Heather squeaked the first set 7-6(5)...
