RE: Week 25 - WTA Premier $666K - Eastbourne, UK grass

Superb, if apparently easy, win for JoKo, 6-3, 6-2.

Unbroken on her own serve, she broke Diyas twice in each set. Next up WR8, and No4seed, Makarova.

That's really big from Jo. Great win.

Pretty good last half an hour at Eastbourne. Pleased Joko is stringing a few wins together, but even more delighted that Joss and Anna fought back to win. They were always behind in the MTB. They have now proved they can win regularly on the main tour.

Well done Jo, definitely seems to be playing her best tennis at the moment.

I must admit I'm not hugely impressed by Diyas, who seems to be fairly passive at times and can go off the boil quite quickly, but there is no doubting that she is still an excellent player and a fantastic win.

Makarova next, nothing to lose there!

Harriet must be tearing her hair out. No play so far at Eastbourne and she has qualifying singles tomorrow.

The worst situation for Harriet would be a washout and then a decision would have to be made what to do.

Yes, give her a WC then fail to schedule her yesterday. Brilliant ...

Shouldn't be surprising. LTA and the powers that be don't have a clue what they are doing :).

Harriet needs to be out of Eastbourne by 4pm today to be able to play Wimbledon qualies I believe, as that's when qualifying sign-in closes.

If she gets on later, and say gets knocked out at 5.30pm, it would just be tough luck.

Is very much putting Harriet at risk of "tough luck" related to "tough love" ?

Probably Indy. I suspect Lucy is busy taping various bits of her body back together as we speak, as my understanding is that Harriet's wildcard is allowed to be reallocated, rather than just the first qualy alternate taking the space.

Now scheduled to start at 2.30.

Commiserations to Harriet on her failure at Wimbledon 2015.
