You always get some random new British names appear during the grass court season and it will be interesting to see how this unranked player called Robson gets on....
Not many tournaments where you can enter Qualifying and get the World No. 41 - however this event is all about getting back into competitive tennis for Laura, the result doesn't really matter too much. Also, with a cut off above 100 there isn't much difference in quality across the whole draw.
As top seed I bet Gavrilova would have hoped for an easier draw than Laura who is very much an unknown quantity at this stage.
I think it's a good draw for Gavrilova given her game style. Even the mighty Sharapova struggles against her let alone Laura (even if she wasn't injured).
As far as Laura R is concerned - she has to try her somewhere after a year and a half - anything other than a complete hammering would be good news. GB tennis desperately needs her back - however long it takes!
As for the the others, it is the LTA's reward for a good six months (and not being injured) - given they've painted themselves into a corner with the "bonus" scheme.
