Interesting, I was just about to ask whether Emily might get the last remaining QWC, though I thought it might be wishful thinking. Good to see that she got it.
Glad Tara and Cav made it through too.

Seems a real shame for Lucy but supposedly she was covered from head to toe in bandages yesterday, so carrying a lot of niggles, and if you have to choose between the two semi-finalists (coz that's the way the numbers work out) then Em has to win, based on far superior current ranking and slightly better grass court results.
Interesting contrast between the US and UK approach to deciding these things.
UK= arrange one tiny apology of a tournament, in the fag-end of a week when there are simultaneously 3 other tournaments on the go, by invitation only, the week before the Wimbledon qualies start.
US= 3 months of national competition, open to all, 3 months in advance of the tournament itself.

Much better. You have to earn your spot. No favouritism/subjectivism, etc. etc.
One slight problem might be that nearly all the Brit girls who might benefit are playing most of their tennis overseas, mainly due to the absence of ranking tournaments in GB. If they had to travel back regularly I think that those chasing rankings wouldn't bother.
