Generally on pure tennis terms Brydan would to me be naturally ahead of Liam anyway in the Davis Cup pecking order.
Whether there are other issues though that might adversely effect team harmony and hence possibly other performances, it is very difficult to tell from the outside.

Not withstanding my long held opinions regarding Klein if you talking just on tennis terms it is even close. He is not only winning matches against good opposition but he is coming through tough situations in match after match. The question is not would you pick him ahead of Liam, it is would you pick him ahead of James.
A great performance in the clutch by Brydan, just what you want to see, bodes well for the next round. Although I understand their will be plenty of politics around DC selection, I would like to see The possibility of selection really motivate Liam, Kyle, James, Ailjaz and Brydan to some great performances over the next 3 weeks.
Incredible win by Klein. The crowd was very much behind him throughout the last few games. He got a fortunate line call on one match point, but played excellent tennis to save the others and then get the win.

Aljaz is not in contention: the ITF has ruled that he's not eligible to play for GB in the Davis Cup.
It went that way after what I assume was an allegation about Rafa Nadal taking drugs. Fair to challenge that I think.
There was no such no allegation. Long standing members of the forum might recall that "Jeff Stelling" considers Nadal's excessive gamesmanship and various antics to be cheating. I agree with Jeff.
Quite. Thank you RJA. Not sure why there was this hysterical pant wetting about drug taking.
I was at Queens today and I have to say I'm impressed with Klein. Plays the big points well, effective slice backhand, solid volleys and a forehand that is fairly penetrating when he lets go. Only reservation I had was his double fister was fairly ugly and I'm not convinced it is any better than it looks. No big deal on grass though given 8 out of 10 backhands he hits are cut.
Interesting to hear Brydan shout "this grass is so fast" in frustration at about 4-4 in the first as I wasn't aware of Queens being particularly quick compared to other grass tournaments. (Given his extensive grass experience, I assume he wasn't bemoaning the fast nature of grass in general!)
Crowd were excellent in the third set when it got tense but mediocre elsewhere. Lost count of the number of morons who felt entitled to stroll in, out and around the stands as they pleased during play. One such instance at 15-30 on Klein's serve at 2-2 left Klein chastising the umpire when some cretin jumped out of her seat and ran half the length of the court to exit when Klein was sitting his first groundstroke. Given the number of jobsworth stewards it was seen fit to employ on the front gate, I'm surprised noone was able to stem this irritating behaviour.
Took a break halfway through to watch Mathieu - Chung and from what I saw it was definitely a level below the quality on show on Court 1. Hadn't seen the wonderkid before and I'm going to be you-tubing his backhand after this as it looked ever so queer from what I saw. Mainly consisted of both players waiting for the other to err and noone venturing forwards though (admittedly based on 15 minutes watching).
Also saw Kyrgios practice. While I welcome him as a breath of fresh air on tour, I'd like to see what the pious schoolmistresses who tut at Klein on here would make of him! His banter/chat was genuinely funny but would have been a borderline homophobic/misogynistic media storm in waiting were he English.
