Katie is clearly a genuine talent but looks a little short of weapons at this level right now. First serve super when it goes in. Movement is excellent. Ground-strokes on both wings had their moments but overall rather erratic, backhand was error prone. Not surprisingly, she struggled to deal with the pace of Pironkova's first serve.
Perhaps could have won a couple more games if she'd cut out the horror errors. Pironkova far too good for Katie to have had any chance of making it a competitive contest.

I'd say overall very little surprise there. Overall the 16 yo continues to generally impress and progress.
Yes. Her performance had similar strengths and weaknesses to the Aus junior final. In both matches she was somewhat over-powered by her older, stronger, opponent. I seem to recall her struggling with the pace of her opponent's first serve in that match too. Her movement is great but sooner or later there's a big space for her opponent to hit a straightforward, low risk winner.
If I was to guess, I'd say long term better than Heather but not as good as Laura (assuming we see a fit Laura for several years at some stage). Obviously a lot can change but real weapons make such a difference as you get further up the rankings.
The one thing that would really help would be if she continues to grow. Not sure how tall she is but a few extra inches would help. Halep isn't tall so not impossible to get near the top but most of the others are at least fairly tall.

Don't really need height for real weapons - serve arguably but not groundstrokes. Technique and physical strength are the determining factor.

Brilliant results by the girls today.
I honestly thought Hev had withdrawn from this; hope she does well.
And what a great day for Naomi tomorrow- she has nothing to lose at all.
Centre Court is on Eurosport2 this morning so should be showing both Heather's and Naomi's match later today.
But those who don't have it on TV have to suffer through the horror that is the new design of the Eurosport Player website. It doesn't work in google chrome, buffers badly in firefox, navigation is non existent when you click videos it doesn't bring up a separate page and you can't get rid of the writing when your watching a video.
I've seen some badly re-designed websites, but I honestly think this is the worst I've ever seen.
I'm trying to see if there is a replay of Naomi's match from yesterday, but don't think there is despite there being a replay of Queen's yesterday.
I'm going to have to watch an illegal stream of Eurosport I think despite paying for their actual service!!!!!
