RE: Week 24 - WTA Premier ($666K) - Birmingham, UK - Grass

I really think a four way playoff for two wildcards involving em mandy Katy and Harriet would be a great idea for the LTA

Encouragingly close scoreline but Harriet loses 6-7(2) 5-7. Barely saw a Flipkens 2nd serve in the 2nd set. Harriet saved 2 bps only to be broken to 40.

Looks from a distance, to be Harriet's best performance of 2015 by a mile. Flipkens a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and twice made the 3rd round.

Thanks for info. If opportunities are given based on actual performance, then Harriet more than deserve a MDWC on this showing - having re-adjusted successfully from her trip back from Asia.

Worth repeating that last year, our only two winners in Wimbledon Q1 were the two who had won the wildcard play-offs - Em and Gabi.

It all depends on the draw they had.

Taking a player of Flipkens calibre to two tight sets is clear indication of worthiness.

R1:  Andrea Hlavackova & Lucie Hradecka (CZE/CZE) CR 40 (11+29) vs (WC) Joss Rae & Anna Smith CR 164 (82+82)  cry

Good opportunity for Heather to play doubles with a top player in Simona Halep.

Except Halep's prowess on the doubles court isn't stellar.

First set to Naomi - if Naomi is ever at over 50% on return points won, you know she is doing well...
