Zheng was very poor last week, so Em had a real chance today, gutting that she was so close to the win.

Im broken. She was so close. Those three break points at 4-3* was the match right there

Looked like she might salvage it at *5-5 30-0 but lost the next four points. Created the chances so i guess that's something to be positive about.

All that fight and nothing to show for it. Great opportunity and she so nearly cracked it.

I hate this sport

Welcome to the weird world of tennis where success and effort are at times mutually exclusive.

Harriet 5-5 (1 break each)

6-6 (level on points too)

Tiebreak: *0-1 *0-2 0-3* 1-3* *1-4 *1-5 1-6* 2-6* 2-7

Having done so well on serve during the set, Harriet lost every service point in the tiebreak, think she managed one first serve.

---

HD (w-15) 1-0*

KF (w-40) 1-1

HD (w-40) 2-1* saved 1 bp

KF (w-40) 2-2 saved 1 bp

Match suspended due to darkness according to the official scoreboard app.

Impressive showing so far from Harriet.

Match suspended. Thank God for that. It must be really grim there right now. (I live in the midlands )

I was having breakfast at the official hotel this morning, and not one of the players had even half a look at the cooked breakfast. Alas I've now succumbed 11/11 times since the start of my trip.

good to see that Katie Swan is getting a chance at her young age :) is this a hint she may get a Wimby MDWC?

So what do people think of Katie's Main Draw wildcard???

Why not, she's our best young hope, roll the dice, won't do any harm???

Too much, too soon, barely played any adult tennis, inappropriate choice???

Or anything else???

Good choice. If she gets whipped qualies for Wimbledon. Good performance, main draw.

Time to see what she's made of. Great opportunity. Big test.

Potential Main draw for Wimbly? Seriously?

Might this be because she's still not taking her prize money (so as not to jeopardies college) and so the LTA can economise on £27k or whatever it is?

Other countries reward their top juniors. Why not? Not as if we're drowning under the number of other potential recipients.

I'm all in favour of wildcards but it's a huge jump.... Very few (if any) MD ones given to players ranked in the 800s - I don't think other countries go that far....

Tessah Andri. (same age and World ranking as Katie) got an unexpected WC to the Qualis this year, in Roland Garros, but that was to the QUALIS ! And after beating a top 100 ranked player.....
