Presumably this confirms the foot injury rumours:

QF:  Niels Desein & Igor Sijsling (BEL/NED) CR 560 (294+266) "defeated" Matt Ebden (AUS) & James Ward UNR by a walkover  bleh

*****

SF:  Niels Desein & Igor Sijsling (BEL/NED) CR 560 (294+266) vs Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 277 (139+138)

Which leads to the question (another one), if he has been carrying this foot injury, why is he having a go at doubles anyway ?

After a doubles wildcard for Wimbledon

SF:  (1) Eric Butorac & Colin Fleming (USA) CR 127 (40+87) vs (3) Marcus Daniell & Marcelo Demoliner (NZL/BRA) CR 177 (78+99)

Anyone know whether Eric's angling to become an honorary Brit again?  Presumably, if he's still with Colin come Wimbledon, they could expect a wild card...

... if they needed a WC. That's a pretty handy CR. When's the doubles entry list determined ?

CR 127 would normally get them in anyway wouldn't it?

Something finally (pun intended wink ) seems to have clicked again for the brothers:

SF:  Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 277 (139+138) defeated Niels Desein & Igor Sijsling (BEL/NED) CR 560 (294+266) by 3 & 4

They're timing their run on grass quite nicely, methinks...  48 precious ranking points (& 750 apiece, though I imagine that matters less than the points) in the bag. smile

Nice to see live doubles from a Challenger ... all going with serve so far.
Dan/Dem serving at *2-3

Having done a bit of digging, i.e. checking the rankings of last year's champions, Pospisil & Sock, at the start of the fortnight & after it finished, I now think that it would (their combined ranking on 23rd June last year was a lowly 193, but, unsurprisingly, it had shot up to 64 by 7th July).  A more extreme example would be Austin Krajicek & Donald Young:  CR = 470, largely as a result of Young's individual doubles ranking (390), so I assume the use of the singles ranking wheeze came into play there.  Arguably more pertinent is the fact that Ken & Neal Skupski were DAs with a CR of 133, but may well need a WC this year.  I think I must have got confused by the fact that it's a 64-team draw & the irritating habit of some singles players throwing their caps in the doubles ring at Grand Slams & larger Tour events & assumed that anything in the 100s meant that a wild card would be required.

No danger of divided loyalties there!

The cut off for Doubles at slams is normally around CR 150.

Pospisil and Sock would have come in under their singles rankings, no? In which case, they would have been well below CR 150 - indeed, if cutoff was 19 May (I don't know whether it was or not), they would have had a CR of 110.
