Disappointing loss there, but mainly for the closeness of the MTB rather than their opponents, who despite the doubles rankings, are quality on the singles court and have long standing grass pedigree. They saved 7(!) match points, having only a single chance to steal it themselves at 13-12*. 3 doubles in the MTB didn't really help them out, and they got a bit lucky that after double faulting at *10-10, their opponents immediately chucked one down too.

for sure

Nik and Tara about to start in the last match of the day.

Oh dear I wonder if it's Laura or Lucy that pulled out. Maybe Laura as she seems to be down for playing overseas the next few weeks.

I think it was more likely that it was Lucy, just from caution, probably, having played three matches in quick succession, including two big three setters.

Not sure, though . . .

Fran finally punished for her wastefulness as back to back doubles put her down 0-30 and she's broken to love

3-5*

She'll be kicking herself if she goes on to lose this, but credit to Mandy for hanging tough.

Mandy breaks again on her fourth match point to win 3-6 6-3 6-3

Well done to her, might just about sneak into the top 300 with this.

Fran ends the match 1/13 on break points, a huge missed opportunity for her today.

That was rather closer than I was expecting. Still well done Mandy on coming through on the green stuff.

Adding a net 6 ( 8 - 2 ) ranking points will bring her level with Emily as GB 4 & 5 on 127 points.

I would have imagined still a bit outside the top 300 so keep on winning ...
