RE: Week 23 - ITF ($50K) - Surbiton, UK Grass

Tiffany is 6-2 5-2 up on Lisa P, whilst Lucy has dropped the first set in a tie break that went to 9-7 (she was a break down against the Finn, and did well to come back and had at least one BP to go 6-5 up...).

Lucy served for the first set at *5-4 having been a breach down as PT mentioned. Not sure how many set points she missed though.

Jasmine down an early break to Bains.

Lucy wins in 3 sets and picks up 3 much needed points. Nice to see her closing out these matches.

Lucy back in the top 1000 again which will help with next months 10ks and also means only two peskys qualify and two Brits. But from 26/32 Brits that was always going to yield some return.

Doubles draw out. Em and Naomi B pairing up, so looks like they might be going together for Wimbledon which would be nice to see. Unfortunately they have a stinker against Cetkovska/Paszek so will find it tough to progress.

Tara and Nik could do well this week though.

(1)L.Kichenok/Knoll (UKR/SUI) v Buzarnescu/Krunic (ROU/SRB)
Brown/Deigman (GBR/GBR) v Carreras/Garcia-Perez (GBR/ESP)
(4)Coin/Foretz (FRA/FRA) v (wc)Axon/Dart (GBR/GBR)
Cavaday/Stephenson (GBR/GBR) v (wc)Asghar/Van Heuvelen (GBR/GBR)

Askew/Gibson (GBR/GBR) v Moore/Slater (GBR/GBR)
(3)Haddad Maia/Martic (BRA/CRO) v (wc)Crouch/Hurst (GBR/GBR)
Cetkovska/Paszek (CZE/AUT) v Broady/Webley-Smith (GBR/GBR)
(2)Cepede Royg/Minella (PAR/LUX) v Bai/Bains (AUS/AUS)

Draw is out, Cav vs Em ffs

Mandy gets Fran so should come through that and overtake both Katy and Em for GB #4 on Monday week (assuming those two fail to pick up a win this week).

Naomi gets Gabi, Laura has a very tough ask against Cetkovska. Harriet has a decent draw against Kichenok. Tara will play a qualifier so should really continue her better form here.

Fourth wildcard went to Axon, who plays Knoll.

Will Mandy come through that? She's not very comfortable on grass.

The draw isn't that good for the GB girls and I don't see them getting that much court time. We'll be very lucky if get anyone to QF

Meanwhile Jazzamay won and Lucy is on her way to winning

Tara avoids a banana skin in the form of either of the decent non-GB juniors, and gets Lucy. Jazzamay gets last week's champ Kontevitt.

Only 4 singles matches tomorrow, and Georgina the only Brit in action, before a run of doubles.

Not sure Paulisi, I think she's a better player than Fran, who also isn't all that suited to grass. Maybe three sets with Mandy coming through and possibly squeaking into the top 300?

Em v Cav goddamit!!
