Well done Naomi, what a boost in the run up to Wimbledon. Given her performance at Wimbledon ie on grass lat year it must give her a great lift.
More fuel to the fire as to the positive value of wild cards in GS, they allow, and this is probably stretching it a bit for Naomi, the organizing committee to insure the very best players on a specific surface to compete at the elite event on that surface, particularly valid at RG and Wimbledon given the unique surfaces for GS at both.
I also liked the historical precedent of Wimbledon seeding specifically on likely performance on grass as opposed to confounding the seeding by using ATP ranking based predominantly on performances on surfaces other than grass.
Not meaning to digress but what a great week so far for the British ladies, indeed a number experiencing the ' good life' in the burbs.
Don't know how Naomi served today, but while of course on song her serve is a great weapon with stats to back that up, it is also frustratingly inconsistent, and to my mind always has been.
Great pity, and I think how on or off it is feeds into the rest of her game.
If she wasn't getting that many "free" points then realistically the scoreline against a generally better player was no great surprise.
Generally Surbiton has been good for our players in grass court time and ranking points ( and dosh ). Certainly has been for Naomi.
