One that got away in my opinion. Just not quite solid enough at the net.

Unfortunately, 'one that got a way' is a phrase that can be used a bit too often if reference to Jo's matches.

That's being a bit harsh for this week though, as Jo has got two really good wins over top 100 players and she looks to be in good form for the rest of the grass court season. Overall a very positive week.

From Johanna to Jossanna...

Jossanna took the first set 6-1...

Never in doubt!  Jo must have tired Niculescu out:

QF:  Joss Rae & Anna Smith CR 164 (82+82) defeated Monica Niculescu & Arantxa Parra (ROU/ESP) CR 86 (52+34) by 1 & 3 biggrin

*****

SF:  Joss Rae & Anna Smith CR 164 (82+82) vs (2) Chan Yung-Jan & Zheng Jie (TPE/CHN) CR 52 (25+27)

Bit of perspective though they were two top 100 players who have been struggling for form of late, especially Rybarikova who is nothing like the players she was when she won Birmingham a few years back - decent wins of course and like people say you can only beat what is put in front of you.

Great result for Joss and Anna, presumably another jump in their rankings.

I thought she did very well in patches today, aside from quite a few dodgy overheads. Niculescu noticed too, so kept putting in enormous lobs. I've seen Johanna play a lot more consistently on grass though (against McHale at Wimbles, even though she lost there too) than she did today, and yet she still wasn't that far away.

Hello everyone, by the way. I joined ages ago but never posted. So here goes.

Jossanna's previous joint CH 79 and best ranking points tally of 955 points comes from the rankings at the start of the French Open.

Getting to the SF here takes them to 983 points and a possible new CH.

Might as well go over the 1000 points and make sure !

Welcome to posting Grachka, hopefully I can get round to posting a bit too

Hopefully it is more and more coming together again for Jo at a rather good time.

I don't know if anyone saw Joss and Anna's match, but Joss put in just about a perfect performance, and Anna wasn't far behind. Neither of their opponents looked overly sharp, obvious excuse for Niculescu, but even if they'd been a lot better there still would have only been one result. Again great support from the crowd, gutted I can't cheer them on tomorrow. And just got finished before the rain arrived much earlier than forecast.

Jo played well enough, but that 2nd set took a lot out of her, and she couldn't quite sustain that level in the third. Still a great week though.

Jeez you can never praise Johanna can you? Are you an ex-boyfriend/friend or something because you seriously have issues.

Ok - she has had a couple of good wins and played well by all accounts. I just think she has been helped a bit by playing two people who have not been at their best of late - not JK's fault I know. And like I say you can only beat what is put in front of you but I don't go overboard which I feel some do.

No, I am certainly not an ex-boyfriend and I would certainly not post on here if I was - and if you thought I wasn't being particularly complimentary then you should read what I read on another forum. Link provided - scroll down if you can get to it.
