Just say all wins against higher ranked opponents are great and you'll keep some folk happy.
Naa, more context is invariably interesting ( to me and I am sure many others ) and the actual points made can be agreed, disagreed or further developed.
1. All losses by our players are because they played badly, while all wins are because their opponent played badly.
2. All losses by our players are because their opponent played well, and all wins are because our player played well.
It really depends on whether you are a glass half full or glass half empty sort of person.

Sorry, can't agree with this, id like to think as a fairly decent player myself I can tell the difference. The frustrating thing today was that JoKo was miles ahead in the rallies but just wasn't consistent, plenty of room for improvement. That forehand is a real weapon though and he backhand has improved since last year, that's undeniable.
Her tactic of getting in to the net was the right one today but her volleys and smashes need to be better - ultimately that cost her the match.
Totally extreme Peter too, such that I can only assume tongue in cheek or whatever. Anyway, it's just wrong.
With just some odd exceptions, I'd say that nearly everyone is much more discerning than those extremes in a a multitude of different shades on the spectrum with clearly some tending more to half full, some to half empty and many just going on an individual case by case judgement or at least meaning to do so.
It is the impression I am left with sometimes when reading the comments, that someone always pops up to minimise a win or criticise a loss. There are two players on court and it is not always easy to understand what is really happening unless one is actually on court at the time. I used to play table tennis in a couple of leagues and I remember getting a couple of match points against one player who went on to finish the season with a 100% record. At match point he slightly modified his game tempting me out of my winning game and went on to win. On these boards one of our tennis players doing the same would be criticised for throwing it away, not being able to finish the match, etc. but between two good and reasonably well matched opponents it can often be more a game of chess than stroke making or movement. A good player always finds a new resource, a new tactic to get the win. I was very much in agreement with Naomi Cavaday the other day when she said that in order to win you first have to learn how to lose. It's best to simply celebrate wins and try and learn from losses.
Peronally, of course I am a big supporter of British tennis players and want them to do well ...
... and on this forum I will continue to do more than "simply celebrate wins" but at times discuss them further as well as losses in the context as best as I know, the good and not so good.
Actually discussing results and performances is a big part of what attracts me here.
They could have got the singles final in today (good weather permitting) if the last quarter final had been moved on Friday with the rain clearly coming late afternoon. The PGA golf tour is great at moving up tee times to anticipate bad weather - hard to understand why the WTA can't do more. Maybe live tv schedules tie their hands. Still, hoping to get to a maybe Radwanska/Riske final on Monday and hoping the ticket pricing is sensible - not £41.80 as today. Without Watson and Robson the event has been overpriced. The field is not that much stronger than the previous challengers - Radwanska the only star.
Some amazing comebacks and stats - Davis and Niculescu saved 14 match points between them on the same day and Diyas saved 23 of 31 break points in losing to Vickers.
Radwanska v Niculescu on Eurosport now. With the amount of slices, touch shots and serve & volley it's like watching a match from a previous era - in a good way!
