great result for Josh, hes an excellent ball striker his game probably suits the grass and can get away with his serve. Although my understanding is that thats massively improved?!
What a terrific win from Josh against a guy who clearly likes the grass (Wimby Junior Champ) and is also on form (RU last week and beat Nº1 seed here). It has not been an easy season for Josh since reaching the FQR in the Marseille ATP 250. As I said at the time, I was discussing Josh with Mate Pavic's coach (Josh had beaten him) and he couldn't understand why (a) Josh wasn't higher in the rankings and (b) why he wasn't traveling with a coach. He certainly felt that Josh was very under-ranked.
Whilst a CH beckons, Josh does have a lot of points to defend over the next couple of months, so let's hope he can go even further here and cover off those points. He is definitely playing well enough to do that.

With regard to James Ward, I do agree with the comments about recent scheduling. It does seem strange however, as it has been commented on many times before that in general, Wardy is very shrewd with his scheduling. It suggests to me that his recent programme has been designed around chasing points for the Top 100 rather than doing what is best for him in the medium to longer term.
I really do hope that he cracks it because then we will see the real Wardy, whatever that may be. It is absolutely possible that if he gets in there, he could then fall away again, but it is also possible that it will free him up and he will regain the consistency he found in the 2nd half of last year.
Just get the feeling that whereas for Kyle, the Top 100 mark is a milestone, for James, it is more of a millstone.
Re my favourite subject of Wimbledon WCs ( well Q WCs are OK ) :
I would have thought that you could mark down GB ranks 3-9 ( and now in running race 3-9 albeit in a different order ) for 7 WCs ( MD or Q ).
i.e. Kyle, James, Liam, Brydan, Ed, Dan C and Josh M.
I would have though Marcus, GB 10 and in running race 10 ( though Dave would overtake in both with a SF here ) was the most likely probable 8th WC, with no particularly pressing candidates from lower down the rankings.
Liam Liam. After the highs of last year, hardly anything has happened for him since the turn of the year. He must be just saving his best for the second half.
Odd that its not there, it was definitely in the paper. Frustrating too as it means I will have to copy it out...
It leads with the news about Kyle but then follows by talking about James.
"Fellow Davis Cup contender James Ward has been wrestling with a foot injury." (more on Kyle)
Then, "With Edmund sidelined, the form of Ward, who was outstanding against the USA in March, must be a worry as he struggles to reproduce anything like the level seen when he beat John Isner in Glasgow. And he went down to a lacklustre 6-4, 6-2 defeat yesterday (yes he got the sets the wrong way round) in the Surbiton Trophy by Brydan Klein, the Australian-born British No 6 who is showing contrasting improvement. Ward has won only seven matches out of 17 since beating Isner in early March but has been held back by an injury to his right foot, although he expects to be fit for Queens."
