Losing 9 games in a row on grass is extremely disappointing, especially against a player like Harrison who doesn't have the most accomplished return of serve. Hard to see such a capitulation as anything other than Liam still lacking in maturity.
I had a very enjoyable several hours in Surbiton today. I haven't had time to read through previous posts, so apologies if I'm repeating stuff that has already been said.
Dan Cox will be annoyed to have lost the second set against Authom - he was a break up at 4-3. I was standing next to a guy who in no way could be descrideb as overweight who was sporting a pair of Raybans and a rather attractive companion. Took me a while realise it was Meatball!!
Ed Corrie looked quite comfortable and went a set up against Josh. After being broken at the start of the 2nd, he retired with an injury - a shame.
Ward v. Klein: Brydan was competent and workman-like, didn't do anything stupid. His behaviour was exemplary, borderline boring even. His focus on the task in hand was very good. Dino looked out of sorts, not the same man who I've watch on telly at the DC. There was no intensity, no desire in him today. I think he has overplayed and over travelled. He needs a rest.
Liam v. Ryan. Very good quality tennis, a tight first set that liam takes on the tb and then more good tennis in the 2nd wher RH manufactures a break and keeps it. RH breaks in the 1st game of the decider, Liam goes 0-40 up in the next game and I think Game On! Unfortunately, Liam missed an easy overhead and Ryan scrapes a hold. A drop in Liam's level saw him go two breaks down, I didn't see a way back for him and it was time for me to leave....
The only other comment I'll make is that that Brits were sticking together, watching their pals matches, as was Leon.
Ps walked past james ward chatting to his team after the Klein match and thought one of them may have said "need an operation". V high chance I misheard tho hope james isn't carrying an injury.
Nice atmosphere down here!
You may not have misheard totally, according to Mike Dickson he's got a foot injury. Maybe you heard something like, "if it doesn't clear up by this point he may need an operation".
But reading this gave me a horrible feeling. It brought back memories of 2012 when he got that wrist injury in practice in Newport, decided to play qualies anyway and had an unbelievable defeat, and then barely played for the rest of the year. At the time i thought it had probably ended any chance he had of cracking the top 100 coming off the back of that incredible Wimbledon when he came from a set down in the fifth set to win his first round match and then took Mardy Fish to five sets the following round.
Not saying that this injury is as bad, but that match showed that when injured James can look worse than he actually is. Hope he can get fully fit soon because any lengthy spell out and I fear the Top 100 boat may sail away for good

whilst I was at Surbiton yesterday, I overheard a coach/trainer trying to arrange an MRI scan for that afternoon. I guessed it was for Ed, but I don't recognise many coaches - could have been for anyone.
