Well, that was hardly James' finest hour. :(

But well done to Brydan, second serve ace to finish it, face no break points on his serve....

To be honest, the way he's playing today (which ties in with how he was playing yesterday in the doubles for 95% of it), he might as well just do the decent thing and give his place to someone else.

And that's from a big James Ward fan..... :::::((((

I know there is no chance of this but I think there is a good case for not giving him a Wimbledon wild card. His form recently has been very poor and his attitude questionable at best. Finding himself in Wimbledon qualifying might do him some good.

Does having WC's for Queens, Notts and/or Wimbledon affect a players performance here? If so is it wise to grant them so early or a bad thing? I can see an argument either way.....I guess we can only hope for better performances at these bigger events.

Are you seriously suggesting allocating wild cards on the basis of current form rather than how someone was playing in the latter half of last year?

I bet you are one of those silly people who believes in using both the carrot and the stick. Fortunately the LTA are above such nonsense and strictly believe in either carrots (lots and lots of them) or the stick (a very big one).

The wild cards must be affecting him. When you think he ll earn approx 35k pounds minimum or turning up and then you look at the 300or so quid here he's hardly going to risk 100per cent max when the risk of getting an injury is there. Financial reasons play a factor Id say. Similar to why Ed pulled out I'm guessing. I think he will scrape a Wild Card and that money so valuable to enable to travel to challengers worldwide for the rest of the season and move on a step.

I think all these tournaments are actually having a bad effect on the British players. Maybe some of them should have skipped these 50ks altogether.

Too many saturated tournaments but we've talked about this already.

Managed to head down to watch the broady match. Good first set for liam. V even with both men playing the big points well. Liam aided by a ludicrous net cord in the tie break but not undeserved overall

Ps walked past james ward chatting to his team after the Klein match and thought one of them may have said "need an operation". V high chance I misheard tho hope james isn't carrying an injury.

Nice atmosphere down here!

There was a good case last year and the year before that imho. I don't think he will do decent thing somehow, though I am prepared to be proved wrong, and he will collect his 6th WC in 7 years. Just plain wrong.

One set all now. Wind kicked up and Liam's first serve deserted him for 1 game. Shame, still playing reasonably well

I saw most of the 1st set and it was dire, to say the least.  Like you, I am a big fan as well.

And should have broken straight back- Harrison produced some unbelievable ( and frankly a bit lucky- saved by the wind) defence on a couple of points. Big Opportunity missed.
