QF:  Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 293 (147+146) defeated (4) Colin Fleming & John-Patrick Smith (AUS) CR 182 (82+100) by 7-6(9) 6-7(2) [12-10]
QF:  (WC) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 568 (224+344) defeated (3) Mate Pavic & Michael Venus (CRO/NZL) CR 112 (58+54) by 3 & 4  biggrin
QF:  (2) Chris Guccione & André Sá (AUS/BRA) CR 102 (45+57) defeated (WC) Luke Bambridge & Liam Broady CR 550 (273+277) by 1 & 3  cry

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at the Skups & Skups vs Fleming & JPS result, but given the former's really rotten run of luck in the past few months, I'm inclined to rejoice at what may be a change of fortune for them.  Must've been some match!

*****

SF:  (1) Raven Klaasen & Rajeev Ram (RSA/USA) CR 70 (29+41) vs Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 293 (147+146)
SF:  (WC) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 568 (224+344) vs (2) Chris Guccione & André Sá (AUS/BRA) CR 102 (45+57)

Here's hoping for an all-Brit final!

It was a humdinger, really pleased for the Skups, they did get a tiny bit of luck in the MTB, but they fully deserved it. Watched the match with Ken senior and Neal's girlfriend, so there were a lot of happy faces at the end.

Very nice win for Mr Corrie and Mr Smethurst. So glad they are playing together. Guccione/Sa a very tough proposition (as the LBs discovered) - but hope for the best. Glad also for the Skupskis, though sorry for Mr Fleming. Interesting to see what the next round brings - good luck to them!

The prize - to win Naomi Broady as a mixed doubles partner in 4 weeks' time?

(This is my silly suggestion;) nothing else).

 Already a done deal.

They threatened briefly, but, sadly, it wasn't to be

All fall down!  The snuffing-out  of ALL Brit interest in Manchester.  The polar opposite of what I was hoping for yesterday...

SF:  (1) Raven Klaasen & Rajeev Ram (RSA/USA) CR 70 (29+41) defeated Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 293 (147+146) by 4 & 4 cry

I sincerely hope, however, that this week's little run will have given Ken & Neal a shot in the arm.

Hey, but those look pretty good efforts here.

And much as I don't subscribe to the sometimes aired view that MTBs are lotteries, I'd suggest that Ed and Dan rather more than "briefly threatened" the CR 102 by taking that second set as they did and into the MTB.

Encouraging week for this renewed partnership and also for the Skupskis.

Decent week all around, and the Corrie/Smethurst result is impressive, despite the loss. Guccione/Sa are a Tour-level pairing; if Messrs Smethurst and Corrie could be that competitive against them, that's really encouraging.

I hate downplaying a performance by a British pairing, because I'm more biased than most, but Sa Guccione were more comfortable in that match than the score line suggests. Having said that Ed/ Smethy are a great pairing and have great fun on court, and will definitely pick up more wins this summer.

The Skupski's came out in fire at the start of their semi, and could easily have gone a double break up. Still overall they played much better this week, and I'm confident their results are on a major upward curve.

I don't know when this will become public knowledge but one of our doubles pairings may not be seen together again.

Finally the mixed doubles pairings for Wimby are starting to take shape, with the standout duo being an all Broady one.

Can you not tell us who the pairings is philwrig? I am guessing Flem/Marray but only because Colin was here with a different partner this week.

I basically don't want to get into trouble, so my lips are sealed on this one.
