Don't know whether to laugh or cry at the Skups & Skups vs Fleming & JPS result, but given the former's really rotten run of luck in the past few months, I'm inclined to rejoice at what may be a change of fortune for them. Must've been some match!

SF: (1) Raven Klaasen & Rajeev Ram (RSA/USA) CR 70 (29+41) vs Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 293 (147+146) SF: (WC) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 568 (224+344) vs (2) Chris Guccione & André Sá (AUS/BRA) CR 102 (45+57)
It was a humdinger, really pleased for the Skups, they did get a tiny bit of luck in the MTB, but they fully deserved it. Watched the match with Ken senior and Neal's girlfriend, so there were a lot of happy faces at the end.
Very nice win for Mr Corrie and Mr Smethurst. So glad they are playing together. Guccione/Sa a very tough proposition (as the LBs discovered) - but hope for the best. Glad also for the Skupskis, though sorry for Mr Fleming. Interesting to see what the next round brings - good luck to them!
And much as I don't subscribe to the sometimes aired view that MTBs are lotteries, I'd suggest that Ed and Dan rather more than "briefly threatened" the CR 102 by taking that second set as they did and into the MTB.
Encouraging week for this renewed partnership and also for the Skupskis.
Decent week all around, and the Corrie/Smethurst result is impressive, despite the loss. Guccione/Sa are a Tour-level pairing; if Messrs Smethurst and Corrie could be that competitive against them, that's really encouraging.
I hate downplaying a performance by a British pairing, because I'm more biased than most, but Sa Guccione were more comfortable in that match than the score line suggests. Having said that Ed/ Smethy are a great pairing and have great fun on court, and will definitely pick up more wins this summer.
The Skupski's came out in fire at the start of their semi, and could easily have gone a double break up. Still overall they played much better this week, and I'm confident their results are on a major upward curve.
I don't know when this will become public knowledge but one of our doubles pairings may not be seen together again.
Finally the mixed doubles pairings for Wimby are starting to take shape, with the standout duo being an all Broady one.
