RE: Week 22 - Challenger (€42,500) - Manchester, GB (Grass)

Evo double faults to find himself BP down...
Brings it back to deuce, then Ad for the match, deuce, MP again, another double fault so back to deuce.
Now BP down again, and broken. 5-5 it is, what are you made of Dan?

That R1 draw is a heck of an ask for Marcus W.

However variable Baggy's form can be, he is a few levels up from what MW is used to.

MW does seem to have come into some form, but with that he played a lot of tennis, singles and doubles, last week, then a quick turnaround to Manchester grass.

I would thus have very limited expectations, but hope it is a good experience for him.

And the Frenchman holds to love. Evo's won just 1 point against the first serve this 3rd set.

30-30, then 30-40, and Dan goes out 7-6(6), 3-6, 5-7 :(

Frustrating for Evo. Restarting a match at that stage is pretty much a lottery.

You have to feel for Evo in this situation. Two more minutes of play yesterday and he would probably be preparing to play Bambo now. But the weather gods conspired against him and he came out this morning with all the pressure on him. The Frenchman had nothing to lose.

Tough break.

I tend to agree with this.  Had Marcus had a week of preparation on the grass, I would have this down as a possible upset, but rushing back from Egypt and with almost no time to adjust to the change of surface, it is going to be almost impossible. But this is Marcus we are talking about, so I included the word "almost".

I suspect that will be it for today - unless they move indoors.

Can you pay on the door? I may be able to get away at lunchtime at some stage this week.
