RE: Week 22 - ITF $50K - Eastbourne, UK Grass

Hard to see more than one or two goin through with that draw. Fran got luckiest, chance for Naomi Broady and maybe Cav but can't see Katy or Em winning a set from either of those two.

Trying to look on the bright side, I don't think Océane has barely ever played on grass (although she's nifty on carpet and hard) so Em might be able to cause her problems.

And Katy had a lovely week last week, getting her eye in on grass and winning all her games easily. Whereas Pliskova was sliding her way round the clay, so also might find the change up rather brutal.

And Freya posted a decent score last year versus Alla Kud. so you never know with Naomi . . .

Beth holding her own, had two break points, but it's 3-3

Add: and had a set point at 4-5 but it's now 5-5 . . .

Alla is in horrible singles form, so Cav does have a shot.

If Em had had a week training on grass then she could havr an upset but i think its too short a turnaround from Korea to be honest. Dodins game should work on grass.

Broady should win if she serves well.

Best hope is for Tara to qualify and draw Fran

Also a shame that Em isn't playing with Mestach. A vit surprised at that, although she has landed with a decent partner albeit Paszek has little doubles pedigree.

Good draw for Tara and Nik.

They finally got started in FQR. Beth has just lost the first set tie break, Tara leads 4-2

Got to make you smile, hasn't it, when our best chance is for the GB girls to draw each other and therefore guarantee a win . . .

Beth lost the tie-break (7-6(5)) which was a shame - she had lots of chances in that set.

...and Beth won the second set.

There are a couple of good draws for the qualifiers.

Alla last won a singles match on 6 January. Cav will 'av' 'er.
