The schedule shows Anna and Joss's semi-final tomorrow, followed by the final, after suitable rest.

Why are the playing the doubles final on a Thursday especially after all the rain earlier this week?

Anyway good luck for tomorrow - get the grass court season up and running with a trophy.

Very rough on Kudryasteva should she win (which, as a GB tennis fan, one hopes she doesn't!) - she'd be playing SF singles, SF doubles, and final doubles (all on the same court) one after the other between 11:00 and 16:30+.

Jossanna (which should be a name, even if it isn't) take the first set 6-2

SF:  (1) Joss Rae & Anna Smith CR 158 (79+79) defeated (4) Çagla Büyükakçay & Alla Kudryavsteva (TUR/RUS) CR 194 (21+173) by 6-2 7-6(2)  smile

The girls actually had three match points on the fourth seeds' service in the twelfth game of the second set...

Final:  (1) Joss Rae & Anna Smith CR 158 (79+79) vs Shelby Rogers & Coco Vandeweghe (USA/USA) CR 193 (84+109)

The Yanks saw off the second seeds (Aoyama & Mestach) in the QF & the third seeds (Bogdan & Hrdinova) in their semi.

good stuff from the girls - they just need to convert ITF form to WTA. Surely a win at Nottingham, Birmingham or Wimbledon would move them right up the rankings and get them into US Open direct

Joss and Anna though do relatively have a lot of points to defend before the US Open.

115 75K title points from this week last year. Hopefully mostly defended by 80 title points here ( RU is 48 points ).

A total of 370 ( 180 + 80 + 110 ) points in the 3 weeks after Wimbledon.

Hopefully get a lot of defence in early in the next few weeks.

The title winners are actually CR 370 (193+177).

I had just been confused as to why they were not seeded ahead of Cagla & Alla, given that the current rankings are from the start of the French Open.

Coco has a singles ranking of 33. Cannot see why she was playing doubles here. JoKo neither.

Probably want grass court practice - arguably the best surface for both players.

Having been in the Main Draw of Roland Garros they're not allowed to enter another singles tournament whilst the Grand Slam event is still ongoing (Grand Slam Code of Conduct, Article II.A.2).
