I see both the Bryans are in the mixed dubs. I always thought only one entered in case they had to face each other.
No danger of that at RG: Mike+ won today (obviously!), while Bob & Caroline Garcia, the fifth seeds, lost to yet another pair of alternates, Klepac & Ram (R), in three.
Yes, I raised my eyebrows at the mixed doubles thing, but I think what may have been at the back of your mind Optimist, is that in singles as they came through the age ranks the Bryans just didn't compete against each other, taking turns to forfeit matches.
jamie really seems to be going along quite nicely this year in the doubles.
would be great to see that "breakthrough" at a slam and get to the QF or beyond.
hopefully will still be challenging for a place at the tour finals too!

Indeed, possibly never have since either.
Also incorrect. Including juniors they have played against one another 8 times with Bob holding a 5-3 advantage (at least that is what the ITF site says).
According to info I have read ( and assumed not fiction ) the Bryans did routinely forfeit to each other in their young days, possibly very young days.
Whether this had continued even to say ITF junior days I didn't know at all, hence the "possibly". I did think it maybe had, clearly not.
"Both parents played professionally, with Kathy once rising to No. 11 in the United States. Later, they ran a tennis club and took the boys to professional tournaments, letting them deduce the beauty in the game by watching players like Andre Agassi. They fostered teamwork with a simple rule: the twins could not play against each other in competition until age 17. They took turns forfeiting to each other until then."
