RE: Week 21 - Egypt F20 ($10,000) - Sharm El Sheikh (Hard)

I think that the ranking points system for futures and in the men's game generally is pretty good.

It was good that the women's side last year fell much more into line with the relative points awards for going deep.

i agree indy, think it makes sense for the points to ramp up pretty quickly from semi to winner - at futures level (and at all levels tbh) its much harder winning those last 2 matches than the first 3 imho

Very swish picture of Marcus in Egypt. Well done, again.

I'm not normally a fan of easy point chasing but when guys that are of a challenger level when on form such as Evo Dan S and Marcus thenIbyhink it makes sense to play here I'd almost go as far to say for up to a month raise the ranking back to top 300. Might be an idea for after grass season then attack challengers in autumn with points in the bag. Especially when these 3 have been struggling with injuries anyway no benefit to playing zero point yielding matches.

Lets see where Marcus' ranking is after the grass season - he was injured at this stage last year, so nothing much to defend. Got a great chance to smash his CH and automatically qualify for challengers.

Marcus is looking trim since I last saw him play. Granted, that was two years ago.

Is this a new thing? He looks fit.

If you ask him politely, he will tell you exactly how many kilos he has lost in the last 6 months. He is quite proud of the fact and rightly so.

Well congratulations to Marcus on the win and the weight loss. Long may they continue ie the wins and focus on conditioning. The next 18 months are critical for him to establish himself as a challenger tour force.
