RE: Weeks 21-22 - French Open - Roland Garros Men's Main Draw (Clay)

Going to enjoy typing this.

L128: Aljaz Bedene WR 77 v Dominic Thiem (AUT) WR 42 (CH 36 Sept 2014)
L128: (Q) Kyle Edmund WR 121 v (Q) Stephane Robert (FRA) WR 551 (CH 61 Feb 2010)

Edmund v Robert is going to be very interesting. Robert is in the 300's in the race, but he's pretty much played some top-100 players all season and hasn't had much luck. I would favour Kyle over 3, but put Robert favourite over 5.

That's a simply wonderful opportunity for Kyle. Robert was unconvincing in qualifying and I think Kyle is at least slight favourite.

Do I remember Stephane Robert as being a bit of a Brit-Killer back in the day, playing Futures and winning a lot?

I see that Thiem has just made the final in Nice, beating Isner in straight sets in the semis.

Spot on, nice bloke but a serial Brit Basher on his day.

Playing 5 sets on clay should hold no fear for Kyle. I remember watching him win a 5 setter against Neil Pauffley in La Manga a couple of years ago, even though Pauffers bagelled him in the first set smile

Great draw but he must be itching to get a big name!

He'd better win a couple rounds then. Will Muzza do ?

I reckon Kedders could do a bit of main draw damage. Wouldn't rule out a 3rd round spot.

Anyone know why Flembo was referring to Kyle as Gruger on Twitter. There has to be a story behind that one

Without knowing how they do things at the French, I take it there is zero chance Kyle's match will be on a televised court?

I don't know either, but ITV player are advertising cover of up to 15 courts, so there may be a stream somewhere.

Fantastic draw for Kyle. Look forward to seeing how far he can get. Quick question - if Kyle were to meet Andy in Round 3, who would you all be rooting for?
