RE: Weeks 21-22 - French Open - Roland Garros Men's Main Draw (Clay)

Fantastic effort from Kyle! For parts of that game he played brilliantly, that forehand can be such a weapon when he has time to set it up. Bring on Kyrios!

Good news is that he has two days off now (as far as I understand) so a bit of time to recover before he faces Kyrgios.

Provisionally #98 in the rankings but obviously expect others to overtake. He will have 511 points, which in the current rankings would put him at #101 (we've been here before, haven't we?).

Also leapfrogs James to British #3, unless James picks up any points next week.

So pleased for Kyle to get that win and very impressed with how he did it. I thought he was slight favourite today but I didn't expect Robert to play as well as he did. After losing the 4th set in such a horrible fashion in that *5-6 game I feared the worse but Kyle's response was brilliant.

This should move him with a few places of the top 100.

WELL DONE KYLE!! And I'm sure there will be many more GS main draw wins to come biggrin

When was the last time a British man's maiden GS main draw win came in the French??

James would have to reach the final of the Manchester challenger to stay ahead of Kyle.

Super stuff from Mr Edmund. Well done. Good work from Mr Bedene, too: I didn't expect that match to be so close. All looking very positive!

Oh boy. I don't know how Kyle feels, but I'm shattered! When he started cramping I thought it would be all over - very, very, very well done that lad! True Yorkshire Grit

Excellent. Kyle in the last year has become so much a better match player, generally dealing with tough situations well.

YES KYLE! Couldn't watch the whole match but was following sporadically and delighted with that! Great match to win! Onwards and upwards!

Great match. Definitely a guy on the way up. caution to the wind against Kyrios and I don't think he's yet the finished article so, who knows?

And a nicely timed two days off for Kyle.

Rest, recuperate, then prepare for Thursday.
