RE: Week 21 - Roland Garros

(General Hev news)

Hev lost a R1 match in February at the Dubai event, to Kozlova, who has now been banned for 6 months for a doping violation, discovered at that tournament...

I see she also beat JoKo in FQR at Indian Wells.

Which two results will be disqualified from her record, and the prize money recouped.

After today doing a bit of press for Eastbourne 50k, Jo pulls out. Very strange for her to miss a home event unless she picked up an injury this afternoon.

Not like she doesn't need the points.

... though James is maybe some indication that wanting / needing points and playing here, there and everywhere may not be the ideal approach.

Taking extended grass season week one off may be no bad thing. Hopefully it is by choice.

Heather might feel a bit old if she looks at the order of play as she is the oldest player on Court 7 all day tomorrow (admittedly this stat was more interesting before Kyle withdrew but it is still true).

Given the prospect of an ideal 3rd round draw, this is a massive match for Heather tomorrow. I'm quite surprised she is at such long odds of over 2/1 (on Betfair) given their head to head record. Having said that Heather will need to play better than she did on Monday.

One of the bets of the tournament, well except for the Lucic Baroni one today, BUT I'm worried about this reported elbow problem, so will just enjoy the match without risking my hard earned cash.

So is it really a "bet of the tournament" ?

You're concerned about the reported elbow problem so are avoiding it, and the odds may well take into account more info on this than we are aware of. In any case surely any doubts at all would adjust the odds.

Hopefully the elbow doesn't become an issue here and Heather can yet again get the better of Sloane.

Playing the doubles at all must at least at that stage have indicated no big concerns.

Needed to insert the word 'would'. The injury isn't that publicly well known, and the betting is so much in favour of Sloane, due her impressive win over Venus. I had Hev at 6/4, taking everything into account, before the potential injury scare.

Hi guys well I'm here in Paris and my time here started off on a bad note when I found out all the tickets for the show courts are sold out. Even the outside courts too. However good news is I got what they call an evening visitors ticket for 12 Euros which means I can get in at 5pm. Which is perfect as Hev is scheduled on then and on an outside court number 7. Bad news might be that with Kyle pulling out the order of play will change however open checking it seems the court is opening at 12 instead of 11. Ideally Heathers match will be on nearer to 6 so I can hopefully get in.

There is also the chance of Andy playing at 5pm of upgrading the ticket subject to availability but he is estimated to be on at 330 so probably not much chance. An ideal scenario would be Nadal and Almagro slogging out a 4 hr 5 setter putting Andy on later. If anyone wants to go to Roland Garros in the future you have to buy the main court tickets in March. Also you have to have printed etickets. Wimbledon and Australian Open so much easier. I saw Andy and Rafa semi buying a ticket on the night there. The French seem to want to make it as hard as possible for visitors to go. Bobs rant last year in general forum sums it up. Thankfully my hotel reception printed my ticket otherwise I'd be snookered.

Anyway here's hoping I get in on time and Heather is safe and well to play. I ll be the Scottish guy shouting on her if you tune in ha.

I think both Brit girls have done really well.

Jo well exceeded expectations and Heather has already met hers.

Anything we get after this should be teated as a bonus,.

Good luck tomorrow Heather!

The winner to play Pironkova, for the opportunity to start the second week mopping up whatever mess is left after Serena and Azarenka have finished with each other...
