There is of course a difference between playing lots of tournaments ( which Naomi certainly does ) and application to improve outside competition.

I must make very clear I say that as a generality, knowing next to nothing about Naomi's general application away from competition.

Fair point, and I too know nothing about the way Naomi applies herself to training outside of competition.  However, I suspect she cannot often afford the luxury of training blocks and fits it around competition whilst on the road.

Young Tessah A (who JoKo beat convincingly last wekk) - age 16 and WR 950-ish - has just won the first set 6-2 in her Roland Garros Quali match against top 200 player Mayr-A

Lord, I really LOVE wildcards

(she'll probably go on and lose now but heh . . .)

Yeah and that was a great draw for Tessa too against Mayr, who is continuing to struggle with injury problems and general lack of form. Unfortunately I didn't back her before the match started at 6/1
