Thought Jo played very well today, never really in doubt. The only real wobble she had was after breaking at the start of the second set, she made 4 unforced errors off the 3rd stroke of the rally in her next service game, but luckily for her the french girl went for a couple of enormous forehands that ended up nearer the back fence than the court.
Once she held for 2-0 that was really it, and it was plain sailing apart from when she lost serve by netting a simple smash when serving for the match having narrowly missed with a drive volley on match point (the call came so late I was already applauding her victory). It didn't matter though as she broke comfortably in the next game winning it with a drop shot winner.
I think she had a bit of luck that she got moved court to a smaller court with quite a small crowd to begin with, as court 7 was packed and very noisy for Calvin Hemery while Jo's match was going on. I doubt it would have changed the result but would probably have made it a tougher match for Jo.
She served very well again and if she keeps this level up she should be pushing back towards the top 100 again soon.
