Of course Melzer was a set away from making the Munich final a few weeks ago. He has pedigree on this surface.
Although I argee he does, he did only win one main draw match that week having got a BYE then Andujar retired before he beat Thiem in three sets in the quarters.

Incidently only James has points to defend from RG from last year(35pts when he qualified) so any wins for Kyle, Brydan or Liam are likely to help improve the rankings
