Max Taba. served for the match at 5-3 but Aswin broke back.

Got good guts, that lad - all that clay court and hard drill stuff in Barcelona obviously standing him in good stead - has made good progress since starting out on the pro circuit, it seems to me.

Got back to 5-5.

Had breaks points. But Max won.

Aswin serving at 5-6

At least two MPs for Max - Aswin saved them

Now a tie-break - - - -

Good stuff.

Alex could certainly do with at least one more win and getting at least futures SF points for just the second time this year ( the only time so far is when he was runner up in the Sunderland 10K at the end of January ).

I always think the week must seem so much more worthwhile when you get SF points as against the 2 and 3 from 10K and 15K QFs. Pays more too!

In the short term re his ranking position Alex will be dropping 18 points post the French Open, on 08/06, from his Portugal futures title last year so actually all being equal he needs to win the title this week just to stand still.

He has two further future title points coming off in June and July ( 27 + 18 ) so for maintaining his ranking in the short term all wins and points will be very eelcome.
