As others said above, and from the first set, she was hitting the ball really nicely (and, yes, that weird new 'technique' (!) on her forehand seemed less apparent, thank the powers that be). Of course, some of her opponent's balls were perhaps a little soft, so maybe made it easier for her, but Tessah played well, it was no slamdunk. It was the best I've seen Jo play for a while.
I think she's always had a wierdish technique on her forehand, well certainly for as long as I can remember. If that's been improved, that's a big plus, always felt that used to be her major weapon, even if it was a little unpredictable.
The ITF are reporting that JoKo's next opponent Torro Flor's win yesterday took her winning streak on the ITF Pro Circuit to 32, a record on the women's side, surpassing Casey Dellacqua's 31. The streak started in 2012 - obviously Torro Flor has played a lot more WTAs than ITFs since then.
