Week 19 - ATP Masters 1000 (Internazionali BNL d'Italia) - Rome - doubles (red clay)

The boys have the misfortune to draw López again, but playing with a different partner (*):

R1:  Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 51 (26+25) vs Feliciano López & Jürgen Melzer (ESP/AUT) CR 87 (52+35)

(*)  López & this week's partner, Max Mirnyi, lost a short while ago in the semi-finals in Madrid to the fifth seeds, Matkowski & Zimonjic, by 3-6 7-6(5) [7-10].

Another solid win for Jamie and John. They seem to have really stepped up a gear the last couple of months. Hopefully Jamie should be on to take out his CH ranking before too long.

What's happened to Dominic Inglot recently? He doesn't seem to be playing at the moment which is a shame seeing how well he was doing prior to his split with Mergea.

Dom had / has some injury issue, I forget what it was. But he did say a week or two ago that he hoped to be back for the French Open.

Not sure if there was a connection between that and Mergea jumping ship permanently, as opposed to finding alternative partners for a little while.

Ok, thanks. Let's hope his return is sooner rather than later. He was making good progress.

I had hoped the Bopanna/Mergea partnership would flop and Florin would play with Dom again when Dom was fit, but they went and won Madrid.

I read that Dom had agreed to partner up with Rajeev Ram once he returns from his injury. Not seen too much of Ram playing doubles but let's hope it works out for them.

I think it was a knee problem.

Big, heavy bloke = knee problems. Almost inevitable playing tennis, a sport more suited to gadflies.
