RE: UK Competition Structure for Open Men

Then I don't understand at all, Born2Win !

For me, as long as you are in the system (so there's some 'quality' control and it's not ping-pong results that are being entered) then go ahead and organise any tournament you like !

The only possible counter-argument would be that you'd chosen a time that was in direct conflict with another major event in the area but as that is SO SO unlikely in the UK (and you almost certainly wouldn't have chosen that date anyway, and it's only a quick phonecall to check), then what's the problem?

Ah looks like I am going to give up on this idea unfortunately.

I have had a fair amount of interest and some nice feedback saying it's a great idea, so I put a provisional draw together, from the responses I received.

lta.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/drawsheet.aspx

To recap the aim of this pilot competition was to introduce something below the county cup, for non county standard players. Basically more opportunities for team based singles competition after the Aegon Team Tennis season finishes in June.

However as previously discussed I didn't have LTA support. I then emailed out to the home county associations to forward the new competition details to clubs and had the following response:

Essex - Ignored me
Herts - Ignored me
Kent - replied to me with a snooty email, saying they would have to speak to the LTA and then ignored me
Berks - replied to me (speaking on behalf of every club in the county) saying that their county tennis calendar is too busy and would not forward my email
Bucks - ignored me
Sussex - ignored me
Middlesex - forwarded details out to every club within the county
Surrey - forwarded details out to every club within the county
