I would say her best is a little bit better but not top 30 level yet, and sadly these narrow losses are very disappointing, I hope her coach stays positive and reaffirms to Hev that she's on the right track, just got to be a little more consistent.
Oops, sent before I had finished and had edited many of the latter typos. As occasionally with me most of the letters are approximately right and roughly in the right places :)
I can't edit from my phone once sent, so picking it up again ..
...Laura has her faults, as some folk let us know only too well, but what she does well has always excited and that she has shown herself capable at times of downing very highly ranked players. That Heather now has more of that in her is good. Combine that with such as her intrinsically better movement than Laura and we could yet have a realll player.
Difficult to say what Hev's top level is just now, Phil, but I get the impression that that French guy that asked Bob about her ranking after that first set, would certainly have it as top 30. And Bob himself seemed rather impressed.
The real challenge is to produce something like that set over a whole match, then matches ...
Magically give Heather another 1,000 points, and I think she could hold her own within the top 32. Getting the extra 300 points to get into the top 32 at all could be difficult though.
Clay court record 2014 - W/L 9/2
Clay court record 2015 - W/L 0/3
To be fair, she has been being recently coached by Greg Rusedski, so it's perhaps not that surprising;)

Yes managing to do it for more than one set would be a big step forward.
Heather may not be too concerned about her results at the moment. She has worked on a lot of areas which are now strengths and seeing what needs addressing. I think in time it will all come together and then she will get the results. She is doing just fine.

Indeed emma. You can see the big picture as well. It's not about "results" all the time. When you are developing your game to help take you to the next level (as she has clearly been doing) "results" though useful should become secondary otherwise you risk returning to comfort zone. It takes time for different areas of work to settle. Kudos to Heather for making the effort to improve her game. Ignore the short-term results minded crowd Heather :). You are doing just fine as emma says.
I think this is the second such comment in recent weeks - personally, I don't find them helpful. Firstly, using an actual person's name as shorthand for perceived failures isn't particularly humane; secondly, I don't see any particularly strong similarities between the two people being compared.
Thanks, BiS for the match report - it's so helpful to have context. Sorry it was so stressful! Like you, Indie, I'm hopeful for the year. Game changes are tough, but the overall trend seems positive. And it's nice to be in a position where our concern is whether she'll be seeded for Slams.

Totally agree bogga was just outside top 100 and won several titles
