RE: Week 17 - Challenger (€42,500) - Prosperita Open, Ostrava, Czech Republic (red clay)

Well done Wardy, I hope he does make the top 100 this week, even if it will be slightly limping over the line.

I hope wardy gets there but perhaps he needs a new number the proximity of 100 is part of the problem, really the relevant target is that that gains DE to ATP250s, then 500, then GS and then those that guarantee seeding at 250's, 500's etc....

I think 100 is often highlighted as it pretty much guarantees DE to slams, 104 to be precise.

Top 100 is obviously a psychological thing but it shouldn't really be a goal in itself. Winning an ATP tournament or a good run at a slam would be the kind of things that I think James should be aiming for.

Top 100 and other statistical round numbers are something that many fans look at with clearly top 100 being a biggee.

I'd say that top 100 is highlighted rather more for itsrlf rather than it being just inside the likely DE to Slams cut-off though of course there is some linkage.

And while I would certainly imagine James wants to get that ticked off so that he will be a 'top 100' player I would imagine that we all have no idea what effect his ongoing closeness to the top 100 is having on his play.

I would hope, and actually suspect, very little if any at all and not the particular 'problem' that some appear to think.

For Roland Garros the ranking date used for entries into the main draw is 13th April 2015. On 16th they posted lists of players accepted.

For the men, 104 players are accepted (the top 99 in the ranking list and 5 players with protected rankings). The 8 wildcards and 16 qualifiers aren't known yet.

p.s. The woman's list is at www.fft.fr/sites/default/files/pdf/listeinscrits_sd_entry.pdf

I was wondering the other day when james was wr 101 if he didnt have a mandatory 0 counter for wimbledon rd1 loss as a wildcard and his 18th best score counted would he have been top 100? I will have a look later and work it out

Cervantes a class act. Probably have him as narrow favourite here.
