Tom Knights used to play futures qualifying pretty regularly 5-8 years ago. US college perhaps?

Went to Louisiana State and left (the team anyway) summer 2012.  Possible he stayed on out in the States to do a Masters?  Or maybe has taken a job there and just playing this as it's in his part of the world?

Bit of trivia for you. Sam Beddow lost in qualifying to Ryan Haviland, who is the owner of the Haviland Tennis Academy in South Carolina. The coaches there include 3 Brits: Ashley Hewitt, George Morgan & James Turbervill.

Good trivia, Ratty . . . like it . . .

NB Sam Beddow is Robyn's brother, isn't he ?

Also:

R1: Maximiliano Estevez (ARG) & Chris Helliar UNR def. Vitali Reshetnikov & Yan Sabanin (RUS/RUS) CR 1985 (1284+701) 7-5 6-2

Got the third seeds next who only just won their previous match, 11-9 . . .

Chris got hammered in the singles but excellent win in the doubles:

R2: Chris HELLIAR lost to Ben MCLACHLAN (NZ) WR 759 6-2 6-0

QF: Maximiliano Estevez (ARG) & Chris Helliar UNR def. (3) Damon Gooch & Cameron Silverman (RSA/USA) CR 1330 (744+586) 6-1 7-5

A Sierra Leone/Argentine partnership awaits them in the semis . . .

Super, if slightly unexpected, result for Chris & partner! biggrin

SF:  Maximiliano Estevez (ARG) & Chris Helliar UNR vs Sahr Timothy Kpulin & Eduardo Agustín Torre (SLE/ARG) UNR

The title's well & truly up for grabs:  not only are there no seeded pairs left, but only one of the pairs in the top half of the draw has a combined ranking & they reached the semi-final courtesy of a walkover against the top seeds!

Estevez was top 250 in the singles a couple of years ago. He's got decent pedigree.

Opponents to be decided.
