RE: Week 16 - ATP 500 - Barcelona - clay

Ward broke to take the set 6-2 on his third SP.

He saved another 3 break points in the opening game of the second set before holding then breaking to 15.

Through 2 & 3!

I thought this forum was being a little too pessimistic yesterday, but didn't say anything! Anyway onto the main draw woth James and hopefully he can get a kind draw!

And he has done it. 6-2 6-3 Great result against a good clay courter.

Some tough qualifiers positions in the draw but some winnable games as well!

Chalk and cheese is as all I can say. Must have got rid of all those cobwebs yesterday because James was superb today. So much more aggressive than yesterday and dictating the patterns of play. He served extremely well too.

There are some inviting qualify spots too and if Wardy can play like today, anything is possible.

You'll be even more delighted to be proved wrong again SC. Today's win was FQR. Wardy is in the MD

A very good win for James. I managed to follow the scores while preparing lunch, but I haven't got the hang of this new-fangled tablet yet - I got the forum, even the thread, but when I tried to post things went pear-shaped. Admittedly it was a very cheap tablet and I have arthritic fingers and almost no nails which makes tapping accurately difficult!

When will the qualifiers be placed?

There's only really Verdasco and Bellucci that are difficult draws there in my opinion.

Very well done James!
Thanks for the eye witness account Bob - so pleased that James played better today. Keep up the good cheering!
