RE: Week 15 - Challenger (€100,000) Sarasota, USA (Green Clay)

Gonzalez probably represents the level Liam needs to play at to consistanly go deep in Challenger tennis. Hoping for a good week

Liam yet to win a challenger-level match on clay though, will be a step-up in that respect

Not sure where to post this and apolgies if it has been talked about recently, but is there any news re. Dan Evans?

I'm looking forward to watching Liam this week.  Unfortunately, I think there is only one court with a stream and I'd be suprised if they put Liam's match on Centre.

Still playing qualifiers in Sarasota today but the ATP site says it will be streaming 2 courts. So there is definitely a chance the Liam may be on a streamed court when the time comes.

I'm not sure he's played many either, so not easy.

Liam can play well on all surfaces, but this looks like a tough assignment, a win would be huge.

According to the schedule of play, Liam is first on court at 11.00 local time. Unfortunately, he is on court 9 and yesterday the JTD and PNC courts with the two televised courts.   He'd better win so that we can watch on later in the week!

Gonzalez is a clay court specialist and a bit of a Challenger veteran. I'll be amazed if Liam gets anything out of this/

Liam is underway and leads 2-0 in the opening set.

Liam got to 4-2 before he was broken and it's currently 5-5

Haven't been giving this my full attention, but Liam had at least 2 SPs in that game. Now into a TB.

Liam will do well to hold his nerve in the 2nd set, he created all the opportunities in the 1st set, had 3 set points at 6-5 on his opponents 2nd serve which until that point was demolishing 3/13, but wasn't able to take one of them.

So frustrating as Liam was clearly on top in a close encounter.

Not sure if anyone is physically watching this match but why has Broady just seem to have fallen away? - First set disappointment perhaps?

As I feared sadly. Liam just got to focus on the positives coming out of that match and not the negatives.

Not surprised Liam lost and Gonzales has beaten a couple of decent players this year (Fognini & Cuevas). But I've not actually seen him play since he lost the junior final to Luke Saville at Wimbledon a few years back. How has his game progressed since then? Is he top 50 material - top 20 even?
