RE: Week 14 - ITF ($25K) - Jackson, USA Clay

R2: Tara MOORE (GBR) 383 lost to Chieh-Yu HSU (TPE) [7] 299 (CH: 224 04/2014) 2-6 7-6(4) 6-7(3)

All round game fine; but spotting a decent opponent very nearly a complete free set is far too onerous a burden to overcome with any regularity.
Plain & simple - gotta sort out the serve.

Jo on fire so far.

You can't win a match hitting 22+ DF's. Just horrendous.

To be fair to Tara, she very nearly did win that match.

In both a good and annoying way it indicates that the rest of her game is in reasonable shape.

Did she not have shoulder surgery last year?  If so, I suspect that she has had to change her service action a bit to avoid re-injuring it.  It would certainly explain the serve's sudden inconsistency.  Also, given how stressful serving is on the shoulder, I suspect after the surgery it's the part of her game she has been able to practice the least.  Bad news for Tara whatever the reason as historically her game has been based around a flat bomb of a serve.

I think Tara will rise up the rankings again definitely top 200 player

Yes, definitely Tara has the general quality to be a top 200 player as she previously was.

I have every sympathy with her shoulder issues, and no doubt very much related serve problems, but she will need to find a reliable consistent serve to make really significant progress again.
