I tend to agree that 'avoiding' clay and / or deemed tougher events at the clay time of year to go chasing points ( in 35 degree heat ), and especially at Katy's stage in her career, would seem very short termist.
I would say, for her, embrace both the clay and grass court seasons. For some others, I'd be putting clay before grass.
However, as some have suggested, there may be more to it than that.
If I were Ms Webley Smith, I would put a little Indian earth in a bottle, carry it on my travels, and sprinkle it on every court on which I played, trying to convince myself that really wherever I was, the court was at least partially in India. She has such good results there! Well done.
