I hadnt realised Hev was carrying a one pointer on her ranking. Really should have made the third round here to push for a RG seeding.
Ah well. She can't play much worse than she did for a set and a half there and it was nice to see Vekic playing something close to decent tennis again.
Onwards and hopefully upwards when she hits the red stuff in a couple of weeks.
Best player won, Hev looked like a player who was satisfied with her last couple of tournaments, and so wasn't as desperate as DV, who looks to have rediscovered some of her mojo. TYPICAL. Embrace at the end suggested that Hev wasn't that gutted about the loss. Hev's only way into the top 30 at her current level is playing well every week, so these types of weeks which she has too regularly, mean that any chance of a seeding at a GS in the short term are very slim. Her coach was trying to pump her up but to no avail. Also the point at 0-15 in the final game, should have been Hev's as the call was late and DV had already hit her shot into the net. But symptomatic of Hev's lack of will to dig deep today, there was no effort by Hev to get the umpire to overturn the call.
