Well done, Ms Broady. Whether or not Ms Coin is hardly a force in the land (and the point is taken), a little enthusiasm when people do well never goes amiss.
Yes. And poor Ms. Coin is hardly chopped liver, when all's said and done.
Surprising result this one. Expected Naomi to definitely win this. Looks like Lucy did a much better job. But then again, that is tennis. It sometimes depends on how game styles match up.
By my calculations Naomi will be out of the top 200 and maybe even down to about 250 by the end of the month unless she adds anything with those two titles coming off.
I assume though as she won a round of Wimbledon last year she will get a wild card although she's now going to be outside the top 200 criteria. There is also almost no chance of any other female being top 250 never mind 200 by May so will be interesting to see what is decided.
SF: Naomi BROADY (GBR) [3] 167 lost to Nina ZANDER (GER) 342 4-6 5-7
Saw Nina Zander play in Glasgow where she knocked out top seed. Ironically Naomi beat Nina in Glasgow. Perhaps Nina knew how to play Naomi after their previous meeting. I think personally Naomi is over ranked great serve when it goes in struggles badly when it does not work

I've given my opinion on wild cards a number of times but I would not give one to Naomi Broady whether she was ranked inside or outside the top 200. I really don't see how you can justify it on the strength of winning one match nearly 10 months ago. Larcher De Brito and Konjuh also won a round - in fact they had to come through qualifying as well - something I'm not convinced Broady would have done. I was looking at her record last week and other than reaching the FQR of the US Open 4 years ago she has never even been close to getting into the main draw of any other grand slam and she has been a professional for the best part of 10 years. I'm sorry but if she was given a wild card I think it would be one of the worst decisions anyone in tennis has ever made.

Naomi is playing Turkey then off to far east where she did well last year, so a chance to add some points.
Joko is the other inside top 200.
Katy Dunne should climb if she is fit and can find some tournaments
Yes, after Heather ( easily main draw by right ), JoKo ( hopefully top 200 ) and Naomi ( hopefully at least top 250 ) anyone else has rather a lot to do to be top 250 by Wimbledon WC date.
