Naomi saves a break point and closes out a solid 63 64 win against a potentially awkward opponent.

Not a bad day.

Oh no Lucy

Resistance finally breaks, and it's into a third 6-3 4-6 0-0*

Have to say, for her first match back and considering her form before her break, she's doing much better than I expected.

What a shame - but, as you say, so much better than most people were expecting - most definitely a 'decent showing' !

And pleased for Naomi - was pretty confident but it still needed winning  . . .

Mirabelle and Megan Rogers won doubles 6-1, 6-0 and are through to the semi final as a result of walk over. A sort of compensation for poor Mirabelle who never seem to get a breather from rotten draws :).

Was very good as an older teenager but then disappeared.  I'd heard she'd gone to a UK university and was not planning to pursue tennis but she started reappearing on drawsheets a couple of years ago.   Have seen her play in a UK 10K (maybe Manchester - def Midlands/North) since her return and there were periods of excellent play but overall she hasn't come back to tennis as strong as she left it

She's got a wee boy now as well I think.

Naomi should really make the final - plays the winner of Beth and Julie's match and no seeds left in the other bracket. Beth leads 4-2
