Beth should win and climb to around 900.
The other all British clash could go either way.

Not sure what form Arvidsson is in these days, but she was rather useful on her day.
Mirabelle might put up a fight. The other two will be lucky to must half a dozen games between them.

I'm expecting Lucy to put up a decent showing (well, hoping really, but let's go for expecting).

And Lucy's got the first set 6-3 Still a long way to go though . . .

Natasha Hillyer leads Lister 6-2 5-2* not someone I've heard of before but looks like a nice win in the making.

Was very good as an older teenager but then disappeared.  I'd heard she'd gone to a UK university and was not planning to pursue tennis but she started reappearing on drawsheets a couple of years ago.   Have seen her play in a UK 10K (maybe Manchester - def Midlands/North) since her return and there were periods of excellent play but overall she hasn't come back to tennis as strong as she left it

As you say, Tennislover, first time Mirabelle seems to have connected with the UK. Just wonder if she's got her eyes on grass tennis and possibly the Wimbledon Q place play-offs ? Or maybe just an Easter break. . . No idea where her family were/are based over here . . .

Mirabelle and family lived in the London area until Mirabelle was around 13/14, then they all moved to France but presumably still have links with the UK - friends, family etc.

Oh no Lucy

Resistance finally breaks, and it's into a third 6-3 4-6 0-0*

Have to say, for her first match back and considering her form before her break, she's doing much better than I expected.

Same old Lucy - cannot finish off matches 5-1 down final set

Emma Hurst 6-1 4-0 down as predicted

Beth just started

Just got some feedback from my "Spy" in Barnstaple. Mirabelle is there with her mum and is just coming off 6 weeks training block preparing for Clay events in Italy and got informed of wild card just last week. He said she has an interesting offensive game style playing aggressive with lots of drive volleys/volleys at every opportunity and as expected was making a lot more errors. Mum said objective of the coach was for her to come and try all the stuff from her training block. He said opponent was just playing without pace waiting to draw errors.

Will dig out more from "Spy" :)

Interesting to hear snippets about some of our less well known players.

Emma Hurst lost 6-1 6-1

Beth is a set and a break up

Natasha took the first set off Jazzamay

Good digging TennisLover - any information is helpful rather than guessing off live scores.

Naomi versus the field this week, but nice to see a couple of Brits picking up some ranking points. Shame about Lucy.

Naomi takes the first set 6-3 then misses a heap of break points in the first game of the second set

6-3 *0-1

I'd put my money on Pliskova the lesser I think Phil!

No not the favourite to win, just Naomi being the sole Brit with any real aspirations of going far this week.
