didn't see this but it sounds as if this was a difficult match to watch but so good that Heather was able to hang in there and win it. these are the matches she ought to win and I'm sure she'll gain confidence from this one. Well done Heather :)
I think Heather would benefit from having Laura back on the scene. Fit and in-form they are good for each other.
Yes, the future is looking good with the youngsters coming through, but at the top women's level it is really just about Heather just now. I believe that 3 months into the year she is the only GB woman to have won a MD match above 25K level !
Anyway, as has been suggested, Heather is not without a reasonable chance against the Kerber of late. And if she can find a spring in her step her game has generally been in decent shape.
Fingers crossed Heather gets to meet Serena then :)
Haven't researched this fully but if that occurs I reckon Heather will be on a new CH #37 assuming 5 out of Vinci, Barthel, Pavluchenkova, Begu, Bencic and Vanderweghe lose in R1; at #36 if they all do: that's not gonna happen though [reverse jinx?]...
You also have to look at the Casey and Riske that she could be overtaken should those just below go deeper in the tournament........
R1 wins for Riske and Bencic so far...
R1 losses for Vinci and Vanderweghe...

And to complete the picture R1 byes for Begu and Dellacqua; loss for Barthel; win for Pavluchenkova...
