Good court time and hopefully some more net confidence. Doubles is always a good idea when it's in no way guaranteed that Andy will make it deep; he never seems to like IW.
There is obviously a massive gulf in ability between top 10 singles players and those that choose to play exclusively doubles. It would be very interesting to see how the Bryan brothers would do against any random combination of the top 6 given a weeks practice.
It maybe unrealistic but I would love to see some of the older superstars focusing on the doubles tour in their late 30's, even higher on my wish list would be to see the Murray's give it a real go for a season in 6-7 years time and to keep Andy playing Davis cup for another decade. Staying competitive in the Davis cup is a real shot in the arm for British tennis and to have him in and around the squad for the next decade playing doubles with and mentoring the next generation of British stars would be fantastic.
Surprised the ATP are describing it as an upset. Two jobbing doubles duffers versus Murray and Kokkinakis hardly sounds like one where you'd expect the seeds to prevail.
Murray/Kokk took out the 4th seeds and Dom's opponents the 5th, leaving no seeds in the quarter. Would be nice for a Murray v Inglot (and partners) doubles QF, although I would obviously have to root for big Dom. Federer and partner also lost.
R2: (WC) Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) & Andy Murray CR 710 (287+423) v Marcin Matkowski & Nenad Zimonjic (POL/SRB) CR 31 (27+4)
Edit: People may have seen it but there's an interview with Murray/Kokkinakis here:
Thanks for posting the interview, it looks like Andy and Thanasi are enjoying each other's company. Great for tennis to see Andy indeed a number of the top players enjoying spending time playing with the next generation. The cohort of young Aussies look fun and more to the point good.
