Oh, disappointing.

Not that big an issue in itself ( in that it doesn't greatly matter what particular week you get your points in ), but Maia was defending 100 singles points from a grade 2 title last year. She is also defending 75 (/4) points from the doubles title at the same event.

More just that she clearly would have been looking to go a lot further, and I am guessing she wants to keep her ranking in good shape before the coming junior slams.

The result has been reversed on the itf website, so I think Maia won.

That's great news biggrin

Banana skin avoided then wink

Maia plays 11th seed Sanford USA ranked 76 in R3

Plays her in the dubs QFs too so here's hoping Sanford has a lousy day smile

Let's hope today's result isn't reversed (both the drawsheet and twitter feed agree at present). A highly rated Aussie awaits in the quarters.

R3

(5) Maia Lumsden d. (11) Alexandra Sanford (USA) 7-5 6-1

QF

(3) Seone Mendez (AUS) v (5) Maia Lumsden

Maia won her doubles too, 11-9 in the MTB. And so is into the semis of the G1.

No joy for Maia in singles ( bananabowl.org/2015/03/13/semifinais-dos-18-anos-feminino-do-45o-banana-bowl-sao-definidas/ rounds up the quarter-final matches, but only gives a detailed report of top seed Usue Arconada's match)

QF

(3) Seone Mendez (AUS) d. (5) Maia Lumsden 7-6(5) 6-2

si mes portugues esta bem, non esta bem por Maia...

twitter.com/bananabowl

I predict that when that's translated, M+1 have lost 6-2, 6-0.

Running to stand still in the rankings this last fortnight, with lots of points to defend from last year in South Africa. Hope she can do equally well, or better in next week's Grade A, followed by a Grade 1 in USA. That's all profit.

Really hope she might make the seedings for RG this year. Almost all of her best results have come on clay.
