Interesting to see France not playing a 'doubles team' in their 4 man squad. Leaving out the likes of Roger-Vasselin and Herbert in order to bring in another singles player is surely illogical as the tie is likely to be decided by the doubles!

You'd assume Mahut would partner with someone for it but I really wouldn't know who out of Gasquet, Simon, Tsonga?

France still though have plenty time up until close to the match to change their 4 man squad. Maybe more to do with not knowing their singles players yet and / or not showing their hand.

I'd be surprised if all of Gasquet, Simon and Tsonga remained in the final 4.

Spare ticket for Davis Cup.
Our AMFF group (occasionally joined by BT members) now has a spare Cat 1 Friday ticket for the DC tie.
If any of you know anyone who might be interested please PM me.
I'm at work today until 3pm so can't respond until later this afternoon.
Thanks.

if Andy not tired after the singles  & it's down to the doubles rubber to decide the tie I would go with the Murray brothers who I think would be stronger than Jamie & Dom .

let's hope the outcome of the tie is decided before the doubles rubber

Presumably you mean let's hope Wardy wins the 2nd singles on Friday - but I'd be surprised if Andy plays the doubles as well, given that even if the Murrays played doubles I wouldn't consider that rubber to be a guaranteed win. Indeed I don't think we should be underestimating the French in any of the rubbers (let's not forget Mahut beat Andy on those same Queens club courts in 2012). I'd still obviously make Andy favourite to win his singles and says James has a chance in his rubbers, but I expect they'll want to keep Andy fresh for the Sunday after a long couple of weeks.

Time will tell I guess. But I think Jamie and Dom put in a more than respectable performance against the Bryans earlier this year, so I don't think they're that much of a weaker option

Would always have Andy play the doubles rubber if possible. Andy brings so much to the doubles court, the biggest part being his returns which in my opinion Jamie and Dom seriously struggle with when I've watched them. Do not make their opponents play nearly enough when returning however make up for it being so solid at the net and on serve.

There's part of me that thinks Andy whether subconsciously or consciously didn't perform to his absolute best at Wimby, because he knew DC was just around the corner. Andy has to play the doubles for me if Wardy doesn't pull off the big shock on Friday.

I suspect it will really come down to how Andy feels physically, but considering Jamie and Dom only lost 9-7 in the 5th to one of the best doubles teams of all time (on hard courts, where Bob and Mike have had the majority of their success), I still think we'd have a good chance of winning that rubber without Andy, leaving him fresh for the reverse singles on the Sunday, where he may or may not face a stiff test - depending on what version of Gasquet, Tsonga or Simon shows up.

If Andy is fit and well after the Friday singles and the score is tied at one all I'd be extremely surprised if Andy didn't play the doubles with Jamie.

Yes, of course Dom is a very good doubles player and Jamie and Dom teamed up very well against the Bryans, especially as they became increasingly familiar with each other and Jamie and Dom might beat whatever likely very good French pair that appears.

But the doubles is very likely to be pivotal and I would consider our best overall chance to lie with an Andy and Jamie partnership even if it takes an edge off Andy for the reverse singles.

If we are 2-0 up, no brainer, Jamie and Dom then for the doubles.
